Sedgwick County Zoo Wichita
At the award winning Sedgwick County Zoo Wichita, animals are presented in their natural environment. The Sedgwick County Zoo is fully accredited by the American Zoo & Aquarium Association (AZA). Participating in cooperative Species Survival Plan projects for twenty-eight animal species and are dedicated to the conservation of rare and endangered plants.
The 247-acre Sedgwick County Zoo Wichita opened in 1971 and has been ranked among the best zoos in the world. Home to more than 2,500 animals of nearly 500 different species, the Zoo is the number one outdoor family attraction in Kansas. The Zoo is currently operating on our summer hours and is open 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. We are open 364 days a year. Admission is $8.00 for adults, 12 and older; $7.00 for seniors, 62 and older; $5.00 for children 4 to 11 years old; and free for children 3 and younger. Reduced rates are available for groups of 20 or more.
Wichita Area PhotosSince 1970 the Zoo has won national and international recognition and awards for successfully breeding threatened and endangered species. In two instances, this Zoo's breeding programs have increased the world's threatened species in captivity. This Zoo has also been the first institution to successfully breed populations of certain endangered species. Endangered species born or hatched in our Zoo and reintroduced to the wild have included Puerto Rican Crested Toad, Golden Lion Tamarin, Bali Mynah, and Guam Rail.
The Sedgwick County Zoo is located on the west side of Wichita, Kansas USA.
From I-235, take Exit 10 (Zoo Boulevard) and follow signs to the zoo.
