Naturally Fun for the Family

The city of Wichita's 117 parks and greenways cover 4,347 acres. If you love the great outdoors, you'll appreciate the Great Plains Nature Center which offers nature trails and indoor exhibits of the wildlife native to the area. Chisholm Creek Park Nature Trail provides 2.5 miles of paved trails, allowing visitors to take in beautiful prairies, wetlands, ponds and woodlands, and provides picnic shelters with tables and outdoor grills perfect for a family outing. Just a 35-minute drive east of Wichita, the Flint Hills of Kansas are the home to the largest remaining stand of the tallgrass prairie in North America.

Wichita Garden Show
Proclaimed "The Best Garden Show in the Midwest," "Kansas' Premier Garden party" and "Wichita's Pride and Joy," the Wichita Garden Show held in March is where beauty is in full bloom.

Wichita River Festival
Held in June, the Wichita River Festival is is known for its arts and craft shows as well as the many activities centered around the banks of the beautiful Arkansas River.

Wichita Women's Fair
From fun to informative, if it's of interest to women it's at the Wichita Women's Fair. Held in February, this is the women's event of the year where you'll find over 300 exhibitors; cooking, fashion and hair shows; workshops; entertainment; personality appearances; and merchandise.

EquiFest of Kansas
A sensational showcase of equine entertainment and education with spectacular demonstrations, stunning stallions, this is truly a horse lover's paradise. Held in February at the Kansas Coliseum.

Great Plains Renaissance Faire
Come to Wichita in September and you can go medieval! Get lost in a world of scheming kings and queens, armored, brave knights on horseback, games, food and fun for the family.

Darryl Starbird Rod & Custom Show
Car enthusiasts flock to see the great works of American custom car and hot rod designer and builder, Darryl Starbird (best known for the Predicta, the Electra, the Cosma Ray, the Big T and the Lil Coffin), whose works are on display at the Century II Convention Center in January.
